The special design of the DualSwitch® Valve presents a very large surface area to the CSF, thus ensuring reliable operation even in contaminated fluid. Clinical studies demonstrate successful treatment of patients with so-called normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH).
The DualSwitch® Valve consists of two different chambers, one for the supine and one for the upright posture of the patient. Hereby it is succeeded to keep the IVP in physiological ranges.
Supine Function
The low pressure valve chamber keeps the patient’s intraventricular pressure within physiological limits.
Upright Function
The gravity unit is activated whenever the patient moves to an upright position and automatically switches to activation of the high pressure valve chamber.
