Frost & Sullivan once again selected the Aesculap Academy as the "Medical Professional Education Institution of the Year".
Tuttlingen/San Francisco. The Frost & Sullivan Prize for the "Medical Professional Education Institution of the Year" was awarded to the Aesculap Academy yesterday for the second time in succession. With this award, Frost & Sullivan acknowledges the sustained global expansion of the Aesculap Academy network as well as its outstanding contribution to professional education in medicine.
Frost & Sullivan praised the enormous growth of the Aesculap Academy, which celebrated its first 10 years of existence last year. Since its foundation in 1995 in the Aesculapium in Tuttlingen, Germany, the institute has gained in influence and presence across the globe, Frost & Sullivan explained in its decision statement.
In these days of intense competition, continued Frost & Sullivan, the Aesculap Academy has shown how much importance it attaches to the exchange of medical knowledge. Its constant high quality, as well as its enormous growth in 2005, have made the Aesculap Academy a worthy recipient of the award, Frost & Sullivan concluded.
The jury was also impressed by the opening of the new Aesculap Academy branch in Berlin, which is housed in the traditional and highly prestigious Langenbeck-Virchow-Haus. Founded over 90 years ago, this building has once again become the seat of several medical associations, and thus a centre for the exchange of specialist medical knowledge. "An immensely important contribution to dialogue in the medical world", said Professor Ungethüm, Deputy Chairman of the B. Braun Management Board and originator of the Aesculap Academy concept.
The Aesculap Academy is currently evaluating new topics in wound closure worldwide. In addition, websites were created in 2005 for countries such as France, Italy, the UK, Poland, Switzerland and several Asian countries, where information about courses is offered in the national language.
In the Asia Pacific region, the Aesculap Academy intensified the expansion of its activities in China and offered courses in Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan for the first time. In South America a branch was established in Mexico only a year ago. A branch in South Africa is planned for the near future, the only continent on which the Academy is not yet represented.
Frost & Sullivan bestows the "Medical Professional Education Institution of the Year" prize on professional education establishments that stand out for their high standard. Among the criteria are the range of courses offered, the target group and worldwide availability.
