B. Braun Medical Industries can now undertake procurement and sale of raw materials, components and finished products in Malaysia and abroad.
Penang (Malaysia). B. Braun Medical Industries Sdn. Bhd. has been awarded with International Procurement Centre Status on 8th of June 2005 by the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA). The Launch is officiated by Y.A.B. Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon, Chief Minister of Penang, on the 18th of January at the B. Braun premises in Penang.
Dr. Ludwig Georg Braun, Chairman of the Board of the B. Braun Group with its headquarter located in Melsungen, Germany, together with Yenni Lim, VP Supply Chain Management Asia Pacific, as well as other members of the management board of B. Braun Medical Industries will acknowledge the award.
With the International Procurement Centre Status (IPC) B. Braun Medical Industries can undertake procurement and sale of raw materials, components and finished products to its group of related companies and to unrelated companies in Malaysia and abroad.
B. Braun´s International Procurement Centre Status will result in an incremental usage of Malaysian ports, thus giving positive economic development and opportunities for growth in the Malaysian port sector which in turn provides excellent business opportunities for the Local and Regional Logistic and Freight Forwarding Industry as well as the Small and Medium Industries (SMI) in Malaysia.

Braun, one of the leading heath care suppliers, has recognized the establishment of a Regional Distribution Centre in Penang to increase the efficiency of its distribution network to the Asia Pacific region. The main aim being one Procurement and Distribution Centre is to increase customer service levels by reducing lead-time, cost (optimization of container loads) and optimizing inventory levels and eliminating repetitive functions along the value chain.
