B. Braun's education forum has attracted over two million participants worldwide to date.
Tuttlingen/Melsungen (Germany). On Monday, September 15, 2025, Aesculap Academy, the continuing education forum of medical technology company B. Braun SE, celebrated its 30th anniversary. What began in 1995 with the opening of the Aesculapium in Tuttlingen, Germany, has evolved into a global network for medical training and further education. Today, the Aesculap Academy operates in over 40 countries, offering more than 2,000 events annually with over 200,000 participants—making it one of the world’s leading providers of medical education. In total, more than two million healthcare professionals have participated in its programs, which range from surgical and anesthesiology training to exam-relevant courses, offered in-person, digitally, or in hybrid formats.
“Our vision—to protect and improve the health of people around the world—drives us every single day. Our brand promise ‘B. Braun – Sharing Expertise’ shows how we aim to achieve this together. After all, medical progress is made where knowledge is shared,” says Anna Maria Braun, CEO of B. Braun SE. “For more than 30 years, the Aesculap Academy as B. Braun’s training institution has created spaces for this exchange. We support healthcare professionals in using modern medical technology safely and responsibly—for better healthcare and more safety in everyday clinical practice. This is how we live up to our promise: through education, encounters, and the joint pursuit of excellence in medicine.”
“In the past 30 years, Aesculap Academy has developed into a global beacon for medical education,” Dr. Gabriela Soskuty and Robert Weber, Managing Directors of the Aesculap Academy say. “This anniversary is not only a reason to celebrate, but also an incentive to further embrace our responsibility for lifelong learning and excellent care. Since its foundation, the Aesculap Academy has distinguished itself through a clear vision, a deep sense of responsibility and a tireless commitment to quality in medical education – worldwide."
As the education institution of medical technology company B. Braun, the Aesculap Academy stands for practical, scientifically sound advanced training for medical professionals—from doctors and nursing staff to technical assistants. It promotes interdisciplinary exchange and the safe application of medical products and procedures.
The idea for the Aesculap Academy emerged in the early 1990s—initiated by then Aesculap CEO Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael Ungethüm and supported by Prof. Dr. h.c. Ludwig Georg Braun, at that time CEO of the B. Braun Group. In Germany, in addition to its Tuttlingen headquarters, a second location in the historic Langenbeck-Virchow-Haus in Berlin was opened in 2005.
The success story of the Aesculap Academy has also continued internationally: with around 140 coordinators, the Academy is now active in 43 countries and operates numerous training centers worldwide.
