With the conclusion of a new distribution agreement, B. Braun surgery division Aesculap has strengthened its long-term partnership with True Digital Surgery, a Californian company that is an expert in robotically controlled 3D digital visualization.
Aesculap thus secures long-term and exclusive distribution rights for the jointly developed Aesculap Aeos® digital surgical microscope. The agreement was concluded between Aesculap AG and True Digital Surgery Inc (TDS).
"We are thus adding a disruptive innovation to our range of services in our core business areas. At the same time, this is an important milestone in our transformation into a technology company," said Dr. Jens von Lackum, Chairman of the Management Board of Aesculap.
The first Aesculap Aeos® systems for neurosurgery and spine surgery have already been successfully introduced in some operating rooms in the USA and Europe. Approval for the Chinese market was achieved in early 2022. With the new agreement, additional countries are able to follow.
B. Braun launched Aesculap Aeos® in June 2020, the world's first and so far, only fully digital robotic-assisted surgical microscope that also allows the visualization of tumors and blood flow using fluorescence technology. B. Braun holds a stake in TDS.
